State House 104 Race Headed for a Runoff

None of the four candidates were able to secure a majority vote.

Voters will return to the polls on Dec. 3 to decide the State House 104 race after none of the four candidates received enough votes to avoid a runoff.

Candidates Chuck EfstrationTeresa CantrellTim Puckett and Todd Tyson all sought to fill the seat vacated by Donna Sheldon. Based on unofficial results, Efstration and Cantrell were the top two vote-getters with 38.53 percent and 26.36 percent of the vote respectively and will face each other in a runoff. Puckett finished third with 19.53 percent of the vote and Tyson came in fourth with 15.59 percent.

Cantrell, a Dacula resident and owner of Cafe 313, previously served on the Gwinnett County Planning Commission. Chuck Efstration is a former Gwinnett County prosecutor who previously served as chairman of the Gwinnett County Republican Party.

The runoff is scheduled for Dec. 3.
