Gwinnett County Hiring for Planning and Development Positions

The county's department of planning and development is tasked with promoting and enhancing the quality of life of residents, visitors, property owners and businesses.

Planning manager Responsible for managing the Development Review Section, including overseeing the review and approval of plans, permits and/or appeals; consulting and assisting contractors, government agencies and the general public on interpretation of ordinances, laws, rules, regulations and problem resolution; supervises staff by prioritizing and assigning work, makes hire, termination and disciplinary recommendations, as well as conducts performance appraisals, coordinates the Zoning Board of Appeals, Waivers, Variances, and Tall Structure processes and coordinates the Development Advisory and Tree Advisory Meetings. Development inspector II or III — 
Responsible for reviewing plans and performing inspections of construction for development sites involving clearing, grubbing, grading, paving and installation of storm drainage structures, water/sewer systems, and erosion and sediment control systems to ensure regulatory compliance. This position investigates and gathers information on code violations, issues warnings and/or citations; makes suggestions to correct deficiencies. The Development Inspector will schedule appointments for inspections and complaints, provides code information to contractors and the public; prepares and maintains records, and reports and will notify developers of defects and required corrective action.
