Tire Store Proposed for Gravel Springs Road Site

The business would be located near Gravel Springs Nursery.

Next month, the Gwinnett County Planning Commission is scheduled to review a rezoning and special use permit request which would allow an automotive repair and tire store to be built on Gravel Springs Road between Dacula and the Mall of Georgia.

The 4.586-acre site, formerly used for a plant nursery, is currently zoned RA-200 (Agriculture-Residence) and is located in the 2300 block of Gravel Springs Road. The applicant, JR Duke LLC, has requested the property be rezoned to commercial (C2). In documents submitted to Gwinnett County, the applicant states, "It was our opinion that the corridor is close enough to I-85 to support this type use." The applicant further asserted the property has "no real value in its current zoning."

The tire store would be located on the front two acres of the site.

The rezoning case (RZC2013-00013) and special use permit request (SUP2013-00055) are currently scheduled to go before the Gwinnett County Planning Commission on Dec. 3.
