Former Dacula Football Player Scores Touchdown in App State Home Opener

Appalachian State pulled within three points on the touchdown run, but fell short.

A former Dacula High School football player helped his team fight back from an 18-point deficit in last week's home opener for Appalachian State.

Freshman running back Marcus Cox of Dacula scored off a 9-yard touchdown pass with 24 seconds left in the game to bring the Mountaineers within three points of North Carolina A&T.

A successful onside kick followed, but a drive including a 9-yard run by Cox fell short and the Mountaineers lost 24-21.
