Metal Building, Outdoor Storage Requests to Go Before Planning Commission

Both cases, as well as one involving a proposed tire store, to go before the Gwinnett County Planning Commission on Dec. 3.

Two cases related to equipment storage are scheduled to be heard at the next meeting of the Gwinnett County Planning Commission.

In the first, a Dacula man has requested permission to construct a 2,400-square-foot metal storage building on his property located in the 2000 block of Winder Highway. The building, according to county documents, will house motor vehicles, lawn care equipment and ATVs.

The second case involves a parcel of property in the 5300 block of Braselton Highway near Wheeler Road. The applicant has requested permission to use the property for outdoor storage for his business, GP's Enterprises. The Barrow-Gwinnett county line intersects the company's property. The request relates to the Gwinnett portion of the property.

According to documents submitted to the planning department, the property has been used for storage of equipment and materials for the business. The applicant was made aware of the zoning issue after receiving a notice from Gwinnett County.

The property will remain mostly undeveloped and wooded with the existing natural buffers making it "virtually impossible" to see any storage from the road or the adjacent property.

Another case with local impact on the Dec. 3 agenda relates to a proposed tire store on Gravel Springs Road.

The Gwinnett County Planning Commission is scheduled to review all three cases on Dec. 3. The meeting, which will be held in the auditorium of the Gwinnett Justice and Administration Center located at 75 Langley Drive in Lawrenceville, will begin at 7 p.m.
